The governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District (YaNAO), Dmitry Kobylkin, speaking at a meeting in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation this week said that the first phase of the Yamal SPG plant will be launched in the coming weeks.

"Arctic projects give a synergistic effect to the development of many regions of our country. The volume of orders for industrial products is growing, new jobs are being created. Today more than a thousand enterprises from 60 subjects of the Russian Federation work on Yamal projects. The largest field of Gazprom Bolonenkovsky was put into production capacity. The oil terminal "Gates of the Arctic" was launched. Several gas condensate fields were commissioned at once. In the coming weeks, the launch of the SPG plant in Sabetta will take place.

It is planned to build a similar plant "Arctic LNG-2" and design a third SPG plant on the Gydan Peninsula. This will allow Russia to become one of the leaders of the promising market of liquefied natural gas, "Kobylkin told the senators during his speech at the Federation Council.

The Yamal SPG plant is located on the Yamal peninsula and uses the resource base of the South Tambey gas condensate field. The operator of the project is a joint venture of NOVATEK (50.1%), French Total (20%), China's national oil and gas corporation CNPC (20%) and the Silk Road Foundation (9.9%). In total, the Yamal SPG enterprise will operate three production lines. The first will come on stream in the coming weeks.
