Qatar suggested that the Russian side take part in projects for the production of liquefied natural gas.

Such a statement was made by the representatives of Gazprom Export, noting that this proposal was voiced during the visit of the Qatari delegation to Russia. This issue is also considered at the level of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RFPI). Nevertheless, no decisions have been made yet, the representatives of the company stressed.

In turn, the situation was commented by the deputy head of Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev, who noted that the Qatari proposals had already been the subject of talks about six years ago, but then the idea did not continue. Let's remind, stability of deliveries of the liquefied gas from Qatar is exposed to threat in view of sanctions imposed on this state from the side of Saudi Arabia and their allies. It was about the possibility of blocking shipping along the Suez Canal.
