Oil went up by 5% after the announcement of the Saudi minister
The cost of Brent oil on Thursday evening increased by 4.6%, for the first time since July 22, having exceeded the $ 46 mark. This happened after the journalists got the draft of the Saudi Energy Minister interview.
Oil prices rose by $ 2 after journalists accidentally been sent a draft of an interview with Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Faliha, the Financial Times reported. In the interview prepared for publication by Saudi Press Agency, al-Falih said that the kingdom is ready to take part in coordinated actions to help the oil market reach equilibrium.
OPEC members plan to hold a meeting at the International Energy Forum, which will be held in Algiers on September 26-28. The new drop in oil prices toabout $40 forced a number of exporters to propose a new meeting of the largest oil-producing countries to agree on measures that could support the market.
Previously OPEC reported that in July Saudi Arabia reached a record level of oil production, which amounted to 10.67 million barrels per day. Al-Falih noted that the increase in production is associated not only with the increase in domestic demand in the hot summer months, but also with the need to meet the demand of other buyers.
