In 2017 Libya intends to almost double the oil production.
National Oil plans to increase production from the current 600 thousand barrels per day to 900 thousand b/d by the end of this year and to 1.1 million b/d next year.
Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa. The production of oil in Libya was affected by military operations, and fuel supplies from the country's largest terminal Ras Lanuf, terminated in December 2014, were resumed only at the end of September, reports Bloomberg. Under the regime of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the country produced 1.6 million barrels of oil per day, but then production fell due to the withdrawal of international companies and attacks to oil infrastructure facilities.
