Finland gives a green light to the Nord Stream-2 project
The construction of the pipeline in the Finnish territorial waters will begin in March 2018. Finland has no claims to the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, said Liisa Hankinheimo, Director of the Energy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Labor.
According to the assessment of this department, the construction of the pipeline will not affect the gas market of Finland and, on the contrary, may contribute to the improvement of the situation with the local industry loading. The construction of the gas pipeline in the waters of Finland, according to the profile ministry of the country, is scheduled for March 2018 - previously Gazprom said it would start a quarter later.
Thus, Finland expects to begin laying the pipeline six months after the application was filed, i.e. in March 2018. The Nord Stream 2 AG operator has not yet set strict deadlines for the construction commencement.
